Steamboat House Restaurant Review: This sprawling steakhouse --- named for Sam Houston’s last residence --- features a statue of the Texas president as well as fine art paintings and memorabilia from Texas’ early days. Besides a stroll down history lane, Steamboat House offers some decent steak lunches for under $20 that include an eight-ounce USDA Prime sirloin with garlic mashed potatoes and tenderloin medallions with mushroom sauce. Dinner is more expensive, particularly if you order the huge slabs of beef, like the 20-ounce bone-in rib-eye steak. A highlight is the dessert tray that includes the Texas Cannonball, vanilla ice cream rolled in chocolate. A kids’ menu has standards like chicken fingers and mac ‘n’ cheese.
