Stein's Market & Deli Restaurant Review: New Orleans has never been known as a town for good Jewish delis, but Stein’s has broken the mold. The space is tight, so you may find yourself sitting right up against a refrigerated cooler or directly in the path of customers trying to shop the crowded grocery shelves, but that's all part of the deli experience. The menu ranges through the traditional treats: lean and flavorful kosher corned beef, chopped liver, kosher salami, smoked salmon, lox, pickled tomatoes, peppery pastrami. But there’s more to behold, such as 50-plus cheeses, including a good year-old manchego. And what deli would be complete without a full selection of Dr. Brown's sodas, including (of course) cream soda? The beer list features dozens of brews from as close as Abita, Louisiana, to as far away as the Netherlands and Japan. Oh, and H & H bagels are brought in directly from New York City. For dessert, treat yourself to Erica’s rugelach and macaroons, straight from Brooklyn. |
