When compared with traditional Italian restaurants, Stellina is in a class by itself. The low-key storefront hides a full commercial kitchen where the pasta-making operation turns out some of the best noodles in the city. For starters, the made-from-scratch version of the local favorite, toasted ravioli, is stuffed with seasonal meats, like chicken and broccoli rabe. Among the day’s specials, look for lasagna (layered with roasted zucchini and peppers) or agnolotti (with goat cheese and sun-dried tomatoes). There’s also a small menu of salads and sandwiches like garlic roast beef, grilled eggplant and beer-braised brisket. Early in the lunch hour, the coffee machine stays busy, but later on the wines and local craft beers flow more freely. Be sure to take home a package of fresh pasta for tomorrow night's dinner. Most sweets change daily, but tiramisu is always on the menu.
