THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Sterling Steakhouse Restaurant Review:

From Chris Breed and Alan Hajjar, the duo behind White Lotus and Pig 'n Whistle, comes another in the growing trend of upscale, contemporary steakhouses to hit L.A. This one shares the former site of the Sunset Room with a nightspot called the Cabana Club. Although Sterling is hardly a stodgy old-boys' hangout, it retains the comforting aura of a traditional steakhouse while incorporating more lively contemporary accents. Broken up into several intimate, handsomely appointed spaces, including a fireplace-warmed patio, the place succeeds in conveying the timelessness of this grand old American dining concept. The menu, created by former Sunset Room chef Andrew Pastore, offers classic steakhouse dishes with occasional inventive twists. The beef, however, is straightforward: top drawer dry-aged USDA Prime, served on sizzling platters and accompanied by a variety of intriguing sauces. Sides are particularly good, including inspired truffled macaroni-and-cheese and lobster-mashed potatoes. Sterling needn't be for carnivores alone, however, as most starters, and a large selection of main courses, feature high-quality, deftly prepared seafood.
