THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Stivali Restaurant Review:

At the entrance of Stivali---Italian for boot, the shape of the country---is an overhead sign that was hand-cut with torches out of an old discarded piece of rusted metal then backlit with neon. Located on the second floor Promenade, the comfortable ristorante's rooms are divided by walls with sculpted openings that frame colorful urns, baskets and other artifacts. In one room, an old-world, indoor-outdoor Mediterranean-style feel is created with sconces, antiqued to look as if they have been rained on for years, adorning the mill work-textured walls, and a fusilli pasta-shaped hanging lamp with an amber shade dimly lighting each table. Complete with faux sky and a decorative balcony, Stivali's heart and soul---the center room---houses an exhibition kitchen at one end and a lively bar at the other. The smoking room has a small, unpretentious wine cellar. Families of four or more will love the Stivali combinations such as bruschetta, lasagna alla bolognese and chicken piccata. Go for the pizette trio---cheese, pepperoni and mushroom. The savory shrimp scampi is offered as an appetizer and an entrée. We like the linguine with roasted garlic and shallots sautéed in olive oil and white wine. Osso buco alla Milanese is preceded by soup or salad and served with pasta du jour and vegetable, as are all entrées. Save room for the lovely tiramisu and the strawberry napoleon. Children ten and under eat free from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. except Saturdays and holidays (one child per adult).
