THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Strings Urban Kitchen Restaurant Review:

Hidden away within a residential complex in downtown Sacramento, Strings Urban Kitchen is a welcome respite in an otherwise sleepy neighborhood. It is a refined version of a casual Strings Italian Café, attracting a steady mix of lunching office workers and local residents. The space is modern yet rustic, with wooden tables, brushed steel accents and stone archways. Natural light floods through the rear windows in the small dining room, and the outdoor patio has a view of the landscaped grounds and a pool. The menu is simple, traditional Italian. Starters include steamed mussels and clams, stuffed mushrooms and an “urban” minestrone soup with sausage and meatballs. Mains include sandwiches, pizza, pasta and meats. Our fettuccine Alfredo was underwhelming yet still satisfying, but the hit was the lasagna pastry --- a slice of house-made lasagna wrapped in an onion-garlic pastry shell and baked, served atop a marinara and Alfredo sauce. Other hearty options include cioppino and a Florentine pan-fried flatiron steak. Headed by the same team behind Sacramento’s RailBridge Cellars, the restaurant features a well-thought-out wine list, featuring a wide selection of both California and Italian wines.
