THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Stump's Restaurant Review: If you're looking for some good Southern food, combined with kitschy decorations and lots of music, then Stump's is just what it sounds like. The layout is a mixture of eccentric and '50s, with plastic vinyl booths and chrome-rimmed tables. The menu emphasizes barbecue ribs---half-pile and full-pile. There are also barbecue combos---pork, fried chicken and ribs. Sandwiches with barbecue sauces and sides of coleslaw and collard greens also abound. Some appetizers have cute titles, like the Three Little Stumps (three mini buns topped with Stump's pulled pork barbecue and a choice of Dixie Sweet or Texas Spicy barbecue sauce). The hit of the menu is the complimentary cornbread, sweet-ish and moist. A dessert to try, if available, is Gertie's fruit cobbler: homemade fruit filling with a sweet crumb topping served hot with vanilla ice cream. |
