You might be surprised to find that this restaurant, which seems like a glorified candy store, serves very memorable food. Colorful, café-like, and appealing to kids of all ages, Sugar and Plumm shows off the creative desserts of pastry chef Pichet Ong, along with French chocolates and bonbons and eclectic comfort fare. The restaurant excels at both brunch and dinner, with menu selections spanning the gamut from grown-up hot dogs and lobster rolls with Meyer lemon aïoli, to crêpes, chicken and waffles, and root beer-braised short ribs. Shareable starters will spark your inner child --- think mini grilled cheese sandwiches, sliders and Guss’ sour pickles. Don’t-miss sweets include milk shakes like the kooky “Waffle & Bacon Shake” and the meant-to-be-shared-by-four-people “Earthquake in a Fishbowl,” an extravaganza of four kinds of cakes and pies, pudding, ice cream and whipped cream, served in a glass bowl.
