Sullivan's takes its name from boxer John Lawrence Sullivan, an infamous bare-knuckle fighter and heavyweight champion of the late 19th century. Oddly, the décor is meant to invoke a 1940's Chicago steakhouse and club, not a late Victorian fight ring. Oh well, it's still fun to have a drink at the Ringside bar while looking at the boxing memorabilia that adorns the walls. The dining room is all business, more dark wood, gleaming white tablecloths and steak. Sullivan's beef selection is Angus, technically a step below prime but still mighty tasty. Go here to eat steak, forget the appetizers and sides which are mostly average renditions of standard steakhouse fare, that way you'll have enough room to eat an entire 24-ounce porterhouse.
