| Boston's original beer mecca, this local legend has endured through the brewpub era by maintaining a staggering selection of bottles and drafts from all over the world. No less sprawling is a huge menu of, well, just about everything, served up in equally huge portions. Nachos are decent, and the jalapeño poppers fiery. Although not for the barbecue purist, “Yankee-style” ribs are smoky-rich and flavorful. And that's just the beginning: pastas, quesadillas, wings, burgers and more abound. The décor is faux-old-fashioned, featuring plenty of brewery memorabilia. Not a beer buff? Try Sunset Cantina, which teems with tequila all of a mile away (916 Commonwealth Ave., abutting Boston University). |
