| Walls a soft shade of saffron, soft music and complex aromas of curry and clove enveloping the senses make it immediately clear: Surya is not your typical Indian joint. Crisp white tablecloths and napkins reflect the upscale cuisine. There is extreme attention to detail in every element of the dining experience, from the service to the small but carefully chosen wine list to the cuisine. The menu boasts all the dishes we come to expect from Indian restaurants such as samosas, channa masala and fresh made naan, but here the tandoori meats have been perfectly marinated so that they need no knife, the vegetables change daily and the sauces and condiments are all freshly prepared and offer distinctive layers of sweetness and spice. One look around the restaurant and you’ll observe many of its patrons are of Indian descent. Once you’ve experienced the authentic cuisine, you’ll know why. |
