A Midtown sushi joint that respects the art of raw and marinated dishes, Sushi-Ann is a connoisseur’s dream come true. Come here for some of the best --- and most authentic --- edomaezushi in town. And you won't find tempura or teriyaki, although there's an octopus dish served with seaweed, cucumber and a bracing soy dressing. The Tokyo-trained chefs devote their full attention to creating fresh, traditional preparations like vegetable hand rolls of radish sprout or burdock. If it's available, try the salmon roe over grated Japanese white radish or the yellowtail with scallion and wasabi. Strawberry and mango mochi is served for dessert. Expect a small but thoughtful list of wine and saké. Through a bamboo filled entrance, the streamlined dining room is bright and minimal with blond wood accents that add to the Japanese atmosphere.
