Sushiden Restaurant Review: Among Manhattan’s sushi emporiums, Sushiden stands out for its authenticity, quality and refinement. A quiet, minimalist outpost of the Japanese chain, this Westside Sushiden is well located near the theater district and business center of the city. Traditionally garbed servers bring platters of super-fresh raw fish that are a cut above and more unusual compared to the “same old-same old” found in the city’s many sushi bars. Highlights include sea bream sashimi or a straightforward anago maki, served proudly in its meaty glory, unencumbered by trendy fusion elements. A limited selection of cooked items is also offered. In keeping with its focus on traditional Japanese dining, Sushiden’s beverage selection delves deeply into sakés and shochus. A dessert-as-art plate of fruit carpaccio completes the meal. |
