THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Svelte Restaurant Review:

Total creative control seems to be the rallying cry of Svelte's managers and culinary conspirators. Its decorator has blended art, culture, the exotic and the elegant with an exuberant and extravagant hand. The cuisine, as befits the theme, is also a bit flamboyant, but underneath all the frills and flourishes, it's satisfying and reliably delicious. While decadent items such as seared foie gras and oyster fritters are available, we've found just as much satisfaction with simple dishes such as vegetarian spring rolls and tomato salad. The Kobe beef burger de luxe with foie gras is the king of all burgers, and the skillet-baked macaroni and cheese is beyond comfort food. It makes splurging on roast Chilean sea bass or rack of lamb almost---but not quite---unnecessary. Finish off the meal with a glass of tawny port or a late-harvest dessert wine.
