Dining room at The Swann Lounge, Philadelphia, PAThere's nothing stuffy about this Four Seasons Hotel, despite its litany of VIP guests and picture perfect setting. Take The Swann Lounge: the place serves cheesesteaks---okay, so they're delivered in a crunchy spring roll with homemade spicy ketchup, but just try to stop at one. They're that good. (There is also a traditional version that has absolutely nothing in common with its South Philly cousins.) The Swann is a good example of the convergence between a warm and attentive staff, gracious surroundings, and a menu that manages to be both approachable and memorable. Executed by chef de cuisine Denny Santiago, who works closely with the hotel's executive chef Rafael Gonzalez, the all-day menu includes a zesty dish of Wagyu meatballs with crispy onions and Greek yogurt, house-smoked salmon, baked cannelloni with braised escarole, and a piccata-style grilled pork chop bright with citrus notes. An ideal spot for conversation and cocktails, the Swann is also a destination for dessert and Champagne, afternoon tea or Sunday brunch accompanied by live jazz.
