| This little Toluca Lake charmer, a labor of love from chef Alex Eusebio and wife Sara Mann, offers salads and sandwiches conceived by a chef whose ambitions clearly rise above deli fare. With its wood-planked floors and beadboard wainscoting---even a single daisy brightening every marble or wood table---Sweetsalt is a delightful place to enjoy lunch. A combination of duck confit, onion confit, goat cheese and lavender honey is stuffed into a ciabatta roll. For more down-to-earth American fare, how about a wrap filled with grilled chicken, pleasantly fiery Buffalo wing sauce, blue cheese and mirepoix for crunch, or a flatiron steak sandwich with avocado and tarragon pesto? You can call out your own salad or opt for locally grown strawberries and romaine lettuce with apple wood-smoked bacon and chèvre in a strawberry-bacon dressing. Pastries and macarons are offered for a final note. |
