THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Taco Inn Restaurant Review:
The street food of Mexico is something we seldom see in these parts; at its best, its the real essence of the country. And its at its best at Taco Inn---especially in the unprepossessing tacos al pastor of marinated pork roasted on a vertical grill, the quintessential street snack. Variations on a theme abound: the gringa is a pastor with melted cheese; the tocinada is thin pork grilled with bacon, the alambre starts with a skewer of steak, pork, bacon, onions and poblano peppers. Appetizers include a beach-style shrimp cocktail in a soupy tomato broth and a coastal fish ceviche with lemon, orange, tomato and onions. More substantial specialties on the order of bisteces en chile ancho (grilled steak topped with an ancho pepper sauce) and tinga de pollo, a shredded chicken classic from Puebla, provide a little more variety than the Mexican puesto, or street stand. Taco Inns colorful interior is a step up, too, though you wouldnt suspect it from the strip-center exterior.
