TAHITI RESTAURANT & TIKI LOUNGE HAS CLOSED FOR RENOVATIONS. Owner-chef Tony Di Lembo has expanded his fun---some might say even a little kitschy---restaurant with its thatched-roof-fringed glassed-in kitchen, peacock feather-covered light fixtures hanging from the ceiling and giant pillows on the faux leopard-skin banquettes. The result: room for the Tiki Lounge, where it's like being on a perpetual vacation. Order a mango martini, Bahama mama or mai tai served in a ceramic tiki god or coconut with little paper parasols. Build up your thirst with appetizers like coconut shrimp and pu pu platters, but don't think you're just traveling as far as Tahiti: De Lembo's cuisine brings together tastes from all over the world. We like the poisson cru made of ahi tuna, coconut milk, lime and ginger (sort of a Tahitian-style ceviche); the crab cakes puffed up with crispy angel hair pasta; any of the pizzas; the sesame seed-crusted rare ahi tuna and the chewy, but flavorful, T-bone steak topped with fabulous beer-battered onion rings. Finish off your delicious vacation with rich chocolate-pudding cake.
