Tallula Restaurant Restaurant Review: Half the fun of eating at this Southern-style and high-decibel eatery along the side streets of Arlington is wading through knee-deep crowds at the bar and, in the dining area, dodging waitstaff as they wheel past tables with loaded arms. The other half is dipping into the cosmopolitan and very upscale menu, which only faintly resembles anything traditionally Southern. Share several of the Amuse Yourself starters; we vote the sweet onion and Gruyère tart tops over the ceviche and the pulled pork with its tough cornbread. Our other favorite? The wild mushroom ragoût studded with bits of smoked bacon and sweetened by grilled figs. Entrée choices don't evoke images of Gone with the Wind either, with perhaps the most Southern dish being the grilled pork chop with a ramekin of creamy macaroni and cheese and a dollop of red pepper marmalade as the plate garnish. |
