 Tanzore Restaurant & Lounge Restaurant Review: Tanzore is a modern Indian restaurant from Sudesh Sood and daughter Nikki Sood, who previously owned Gaylord Indian Restaurant in the same space. Executive chef J.K. Paul, who worked in the kitchens of leading hotels in Delhi and Mumbai, has brought his expertise to La Cienega's Restaurant Row. The restaurant has a sleek design, with water features, abundant white marble and a showy, glass-encased wine cellar. The lounge is splashed in vibrant colors, with Hollywood and Bollywood videos projected onto the walls. Paul's menu features dishes like tandoori oven-roasted tiger shrimp, minced-lamb skewers infused with paprika and cumin, and samosas stuffed with spinach-asparagus and potato and green peas. For larger plates, there are seared scallops on tomato pilaf, tandoori lamb chops, and baby eggplant cooked in curry leaves with coconut milk gravy. Naan comes plain or filled with almonds, cashews and cherries. Cardamom makes its way into chocolate cake, while cinnamon rears its head in a poached pear atop rice pudding. |
