THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Taos Steakhouse Restaurant Review:

A large bear stands tall inside the entrance to this dynamic lodge. A stone fireplace separates the smoking and non-smoking rooms furnished with polished wood tables and oversized hand-crafted wooden chairs covered with colorful western-patterned fabrics, plus a number of comfortable booths and massive carved-wood chandeliers decorated with tiny moose heads. Antler-shaped sconces, bear rugs, Indian blankets and framed western scenes adorn the wood-beamed walls. A decorative balcony simulates the lodge's second story. Starters include jumbo potato skins filled with shrimp cheddar cheese topped with Southwest salsa, and beer-battered mushrooms with Mexican ranch dressing. Try the savory black bean and cheddar cheese painted desert soup. Salmon, orange roughy, halibut and swordfish are mesquite-grilled, lemon-pepper grilled or blackened with Taos' special seasonings--your choice. The Old West comes alive with mesquite-grilled, dry-aged steaks, chops and chicken that includes a center-cut shale rock pork chop infused with sage and yellow raisins topped with a green peppercorn sauce. The 20-ounce cowboy bone-in, aged rib-eye steak is an Old West favorite, as is the 18-ounce bone-in strip sirloin. A nice selection of wines by the glass complements the hearty dinners.
