Tara Temple Restaurant Review: Owner Nick Srisawat taps into our yearnings for the ocean and for the sound of splashing water at his restaurants, which boast cool aqua colors and deep-sea décor. At this location, Srisawat has gone a step further and re-created a waterfall in thick glass and posted an overhead TV monitor playing underwater fish scenes. He has also learned to standardize his menu and strike out where many other local Thai restaurants fear to go, presenting authentic Thai flavors in an acceptably flamboyant style. Try the honey-roasted duck, green papaya salad, Pattaya noodles, and Tara Temple’s signature dish, grilled whole rockfish wrapped in banana leaf. The menu includes vegetarian dishes, too, but avoids the really exotic Thai foods. A line of refreshing tropical drinks (with or without alcohol) and offbeat tropical sweets, such as the young coconut pie, may wrap up a meal. |
