Tavern on 2 Restaurant Review:

Established in 2011, Tavern on 2 helped bring the gastropub trend to Belmont Shore. Wood tables and chairs fill the dining room and patio, and the interior's brick walls are covered with mirrors, TVs and a chalkboard listing the latest craft beer selections. Interesting starters include pig tails served with lime hoisin, cilantro and roasted sesame, and the salty-sweet combination of pan-roasted Brussels sprouts with apple wood-smoked bacon and green apples. The menu is focused on burgers and sandwiches, ranging from the traditional American cheese and red onion-topped Backyard Burger to a short rib sandwich on a brioche bun with melted Gruyère and grilled mushrooms. Also featured are intriguing items beyond the bun, such as kung pao pork belly tacos with water chestnut, peanuts and sesame oil. For dessert, indulge in cinnamon custard bread pudding served with caramel and vanilla ice cream, or roast your own s'mores over an open flame. Come on the weekends for brunch offerings with a twist, like the pulled pork and queso fresco omelet, and turkey and ham Monte Cristo made with french toast.
