Tavern on the Green Restaurant Review:

Since closing down in 2009 and reopening in 2014, legendary, iconic Tavern on the Green has had a rough go of it. Chefs have come and gone. But the crowds still pack the place. The American and Italian fare being churned out is not inventive and particularly memorable but manages to not let itself get outshone by the aesthetics of the place (A fine dining restaurant in Central Park? Go figure.). Start with scallops wading in a shallow pool of cauliflower purée or the thick vegetable-spiked risotto topped by pieces of lardon. Winning mains include the fork-tender filet mignon and the juicy roasted chicken. The wine list is extensive and the cocktails include drinks named after most of the Big Apple boroughs. Desserts are worthy, especially chocolate fudge cake with salted caramel sauce.
