| THIS RESTAURANT HAS CHANGED NAMES TO GOTT’S ROADSIDE TRAY GOURMET. The Ferry Building Marketplace Taylor's Automatic Refresher is a sleek, urban version of the original, opened in 1949 in St. Helena. A giant red neon EAT presides over the kitchen like a crown jewel espousing the basic premise of Taylor's: simple, fast food is good food. The menu may be born out of the fast food idea, but it is a casual, California-style that shines through. Tacos are made with duck confit, cafeteria-style hamburgers are made with all-natural beef, french fries are laced with the scent and flavor of roasted garlic. Daily specials include barbecued pulled pork or portobello Reuben sandwiches. Many microbrews are served cold and local wines are available by the glass. A modern take on '50s diner décor includes a lot of shiny steel and blonde wood so on sunny days it is best to take your ahi tuna burger and white pistachio milk shake to the huge outdoor eating area overlooking the Embarcadero. |
