THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Temple Downtown Restaurant + Lounge Restaurant Review: Temple transcends its setting. It's a hotel restaurant that, thanks to a slightly mysterious basement location, barely registers as such; a hipster hangout that somehow avoids pretense; and not least, an upscale bistro that offers somewhat adventurous, Med-tinged cuisine at reasonable prices. Arrive early to enjoy a signature drink in the candlelit cocktail lounge where graffiti-covered walls pay homage to the former Masonic Temple's more recent past as an abandoned urban ruin. For dinner, angle for one of the dining room's precious curtained booths looking out onto the Rhode Island State House. The menu’s light, seasonal dishes include Greek-style chicken marinated in lemon, garlic and oregano and Moroccan-style lamb. A whole pig is roasted on Friday nights for happy hour, to the accompaniment of acoustic music. |
