| The Pearl District has many fine restaurants, but this sleekly designed spot is special. The soaring three-story dining room is spacious and dramatic, an exciting setting for the innovative cuisine. Ten01 uses fresh, seasonal ingredients to create balanced American dishes. Standout entrées may include pan-seared halibut served with couscous, cherries, fava beans, onion and toasted almonds in vanilla-saffron broth. The handmade pappardelle is tossed with Cypress Grove goat cheese, sofrito, niçoise olives, piquillo peppers and capers. The substantial wine list is indeed impressive with an interesting array of Oregon, California and European selections. Desserts are first-rate as well. Traditional favorites get ramped up a notch; try the super-rich seven vanilla bean crème brûlée or the chocolate chip bread pudding served with a raspberry caramel. This sophisticated restaurant is one of Portland’s most elegant destinations. |
