True to the restaurant's name, temptations here start with bread and olive oil and continue through the meal. The classic Italian discipline of using seasonal ingredients is strictly observed, both in the Menu Degustazione and in the à la carte. But tradition goes out of the window when it comes to mixing the ingredients. Here you get impressive combinations: buckwheat tagliatelle with Black Forest ham, broad beans and fresh sheep cheese from Tuscany; or a terrine of smoked salmon with asparagus salad and sour cream. Follow with baked cod served with polenta and salted cod mousse timbale, or perhaps a duck leg confit with truffled foie gras risotto and a rich porto sauce. Among desserts is a fresh wild berry fruit salad. Service is friendly and enthusiastic yet sophisticated. The restaurant itself is as straightforward as the cooking, with exposed brickwork, bold colours and interesting artwork. In the all-Italian wine list, there are good house wines plus many by the glass, including, yes, very tempting dessert wines. Set Degustazione menu £41.50, with wines £63.50.
