Tequila 100 Restaurant Review: This laid-back establishment, formerly Alambres, has been around for more than a decade. The full bar features 100 types of tequila; affordable, tasty margaritas are the name of the game. Choose from 25 types including an avocado margarita with, yes, fresh avocados. Tortillas are made by hand daily in-house, and the menu contains the usual suspects (including quesadillas, fajitas and carne asada burritos) --- all satisfying, overall. Start with the chicharron de queso, thin, crisp rolled cheese --- a dramatic dish that’s fun to eat and share. We favor the traditional alambres --- five tortillas served with meat, grilled onions and bell peppers. The winner on the extensive breakfast menu is the enfrijoladas toluquenas --- tortillas with scrambled eggs, onion, Serrano chilies and chorizo, smothered in a creamy black bean sauce. An energetic young crowd makes up the scene, especially late night, as DJs spin and food is served until 3 a.m. on weekends. Karaoke is another draw. |
