Terakawa Ramen Restaurant Review: This ramen joint in Gramercy Park evokes the feel of Japan about as strongly as you’ll experience in Manhattan, or at least it does at times. Guests are greeted by shouts from the staff. The no-frills atmosphere is dazzled up by an open kitchen where chefs stir huge pots of cabbage and vegetables. And while the menu offers dumplings and even Japanese fried chicken, Terakawa is really all about the ramen. Pork bone flavors the signature ramen, which includes ginger and scallion, but even better is the rich curry ramen bobbing with slices of unctuous pork, corn and bamboo shoots. Reasonably priced bottles of saké and Japanese beer inspire guests to stay a while. Cash only. |
