Neighborhood locals know Terra Ristorante Italiano is the place to go to enjoy some of the best Northern Italian cuisine in the Greenwich area. It has a decidedly rustic but chic feel and sports wood chairs and tables, a cozy bar and provincial accents reminiscent of a Tuscan country house. To start, consider the olive oil roasted eggplant in a smoked romesco sauce topped with Marcona almonds, and an American Kobe beef carpaccio with arugula, Parmesan and mushrooms with shaved truffles. Entrées feature inventive ingredient combinations, such as a prosciutto-wrapped rabbit loin with porcini mushrooms and white beans in a rosemary au jus. The wine list offers regional Italian and California selections. As is the case with Terra’s counterparts on Capri and the Amalfi Coast, people come here to be seen and see the celebs who frequent it, as well as to dine. Staff is sometimes inattentive, but service is usually solicitous.
