| Executive chef Massimiliano “Max” Campanari’s rustic yet refined menu is the showpiece inside this bright and spacious dining room. Good starters include antipasti such as beef carpaccio enhanced with a citrusy agrumato oil and sea salt, topped with peppery arugula. One of the items chef Max prides himself on is his pesto. Either tossed with hot pasta or accompanied by melted mozzarella atop thin-crust pizza, the pesto bursts with flavor. “Chef Massimiliano’s Favorites” features the chef’s most soulful dishes---like his risotto with fresh scallops, or the branzino, Mediterranean sea bass served simply with potato, olives and a white wine sauce. Richest of them all is the involtini di vitello, seared veal rolls stuffed with prosciutto, Fontina and sage. Pastas are, of course, done well here, and the tortiglioni con salsiccia hits the spot. Similar to rigatoni, tortiglioni is a short tube pasta with ridges, making it a fine vehicle for carrying chunky sauces such as this creamy tomato version balanced with savory Italian sausage and verdant peas. |
