 For a more casual dining experience at The Langham Huntington, Pasadena, vote for The Terrace, strategically located next to the swimming pool and the Picture Bridge (one of the hotel landmarks, not to be missed before leaving). This indoor-outdoor café offers an interesting but approachable California cuisine with various global influences. A thick, luscious Kurobuta pork belly the size of a salmon filet arrives with potato-leek espuma and an apple reduction, while butternut squash soup has a pleasant kick to it. Salmon is paired with an English pea purée, and a trio of Kobe beef sliders makes for an informal supper. Desserts, while trending toward old-school hotel creations, are nonetheless satisfying. While it may not compare with the hefty volume at The Royce upstairs, The Terrace’s wine list is respectable. The lavish Champagne brunch is now history, but a more modest breakfast buffet with soft jazz is offered, continuing a local tradition of Sunday mornings at The Langham.
