One of the most breathtaking spots for a special occasion or holiday meal, this combination of classic indoor grandeur and outdoor courtyard within the white stone ramparts of The Ritz-Carlton, San Francisco, is open to the public only several times a year. (The space is used for weddings and other private events the rest of the time.) Easter, Mother’s Day and Father’s Day brunches, for example, are some of the most luxe in town, with opulent, family-friendly buffets (and sometimes outdoor grilling) and gracious service at the highest Ritz-Carlton standards. Décor, entertainment and menus are seasonal and event-driven, but typical brunch offerings might include an ice display of seafood---fresh oysters, shrimp, crab legs, top-tier sushi; assorted artisan pâtés with cornichons, mustard and pear chutney; smoked salmon and trout with traditional garnish; expert salads, roasted seasonal vegetables, good cheeses; dim sum; and, from the carving station, roast leg of lamb, New York sirloin, caramelized salmon…not to mention exceptional desserts.
