Thai Basil #1 Restaurant Review

: This is the first and funkier of the two Thai Basil restaurants, with reliably good, reasonably priced food. The salad-like larb is refreshing and fiery. It's ample for two and a good change of pace from pad thai, though Thai Basil does that well, too. For dinner, try the keaw wan, a lovely coconut-tinged green curry, or the spicy panang neua, a red curry that pairs best with beef. The tiger roast chicken---half a chicken marinated in house special sauce, slowly roasted, and topped with slivers of lemon grass---is juicy and tender. Monterey Catch is a myriad of California seafood including prawns, mussels, squid and scallops sautéed in a spicy chili sauce with eggplant, bell peppers, onions and sweet basil. Also located at 210 Town & Country Village, Sunnyvale, 408-774-9090.
