 Thai Blossom Restaurant Review: Sleepy little Winter Garden is waking up with all sorts of new businesses along historic Plant Street. You can find pizza, barbecue, French pastries and burgers, and for well-spiced Asian cuisine, locals head to Thai Blossom. The young couple who run the place next door to the historic Edgewater Hotel will create a dish from mild to Thai hot, starting with standards such as tom yum gai (chicken soup) and nam sod (salad with ground chicken). We’re partial to the generous sliced green papaya salad with a tangy lime dressing, and the panang (curry sauce with meat, seafood or tofu). Make a meal of starters like summer rolls, steamed dumplings and shrimp tempura, or share them along with a favorite entrée, as the menu includes all the standards, from fried rice to noodles and vegetarian creations, along with a cold beer or glass of wine from a modest list. Dessert isn’t an afterthought; save room for the Thai donuts with a sweet cream sauce or the fried wonton-wrapped bananas with a dollop of coconut ice cream. The pretty dining room with a touch of Thai décor is a nice neighborhood spot for a town that’s coming into its own. |
