THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Thai Pavilion Restaurant Review:

THIS ESTABLISHMENT HAS CHANGED LOCATIONS The basement room is decorated in restrained Thai style while the first floor goes more tropical with bamboo furniture. The second floor offers a traditional khantok room where you recline on the floor with back supports. Gracious service is a feature of the calm ambience, very different from nearby Chinatown. The menu explains exotic Thai flavourings, and how to order a balanced meal from a long list in which main course curries, grills and stir-fried dishes produce the most excitement. Many offer a choice of ingredients; a classic green curry, for example, might contain chicken, duck, beef, fish, prawns or vegetables. Most are mild, but they will happily add chillies to the desired degree. Thai salads, som tum with papaya, and laarb, again with a choice of ingredients, and special soups such as chicken broth with banana blossoms are all on offer. There is a special vegetarian menu too. The 80-strong wine list deserves exploration, for crisp whites from the Loire, fruitier whites from Alsace and powerfully flavoured reds from anywhere that go better with Thai curries than many would ever believe. Set meals from £5.
