| With only minimal ambience and insipid food, Thai Pilin and its sister restaurant Pilin Thai might win the title of the MacDonald’s of Thai cooking. The cooking is done so fast in the tiny kitchen that it seems like the cooks sometimes forget essential seasonings and techniques. The cooking is also inconsistent, for at times the red duck curry is delicious; at other times, the duck with basil and the fried tofu is truly forgettable. Nevertheless, the place is popular. There are only a handful of tables, and, therefore, Thai Pilin is just as much about carrying out as eating in. Also located at 116 Brood St., Falls Church, VA, 703-241-5850. |
