Thang Long Restaurant Review:

Thang Long offers a variety of Asian cuisines, such as Thai and Vietnamese. While the lengthy menu can seem intimidating at first, the English subtitles, well-organized approach and knowledgeable staff help considerably. A good way to start off a meal is with goi cuon, steamed summer rolls of shrimp, pork, lettuce and fresh mint alongside a peanut-hoisin sauce. For the main course, consider ordering ga kho gung, chicken simmered in a soy-based sauce. Classic Vietnamese pho, a bowl brimming with rice noodles, thinly sliced beef and green onion in savory, fragrant broth, is served with hot peppers, bean sprouts and lime on the side, to be added at the diner's discretion. House specialties include barbecued duck, whole crispy sweet-and-sour catfish, and a number of noodle dishes, stir-fries and curries. Favorites include the intriguingly named La Lot, which is grilled ground beef rolled in la lot leaves, quail roasted in five-spice powder and ground shrimp on sugar cane skewers. The setting is modest and so are the prices, but the cooking is the real deal.
