Thiou Restaurant Review:
Thai-inspired dishes are offered in a dining room with a beamed ceiling --- a surprising combination. Start with the chicken nems, the soft shell crab in a green mango salad, or the scallop carpaccio with salmon roe and lemon-flavored soy. Continue with seared albacore accompanied by cherry tomatoes and Thai spices, the crevettes grillées accompanied by redolent and savory rice or the famous “le tigre qui pleure,” or “crying tiger,” which is very tender slices of grilled filet of beef. Some desserts follow the cuisine, like the fried bananas with shaved coconut and the ginger ice cream; some do not, such as cheesecake or the chocolate mousse that is served in a messy manner on the plate. Small wine list and hefty service.
