THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Thirty Acres Restaurant Review:
Thirty Acres is an innovative, hipster restaurant named after an arena built for a 1921 Jack Dempsey-Georges Carpentier championship fight after it was banned in Manhattan. Since the owner, chef Kevin Pemoulie, left New York City (he worked at Momofuku Noodle Bar) to relocate in New Jersey, “Thirty Acres” seemed just right as the moniker for his place. The menu is eclectic and changes daily, but dishes have included beef chuck flap served with buttered turnips, radishes, horseradish and shiso; and fettuccine with rabbit, guanciale, green olives, raisins, pine nuts and chilies. For dessert, consider Kevin’s Mom’s lemon bars.
