Three Angels Diner Restaurant Review: Waitresses wearing vintage aprons and tables découpaged with magazine illustrations from the Golden Age recall the 1950s, but the affordable menu proposes modern American classics. Produce for seasonal sides and entrées are purchased from local farmers, meats are vegetarian-fed, and the “green” diner even composts and recycles its vegetable oil. Consider the griddle-fried burger with caramelized onions; the “adult grilled cheese” with smoked Gouda, goat cheese and cheddar; and pozole (slow-cooked pork with chilies and hominy, avocado and tortillas). Vegans and vegetarians may go for the tofu “egg” salad sandwich (made with vegan mayo) and a hearty house-made veggie burger. Desserts are traditional diner staples such as lemon icebox pie and banana pudding. Wine selections are minimal, but there is a full bar.
