Tir Na Nog---or “land of eternal youth” in Celtic---is the moniker of this pub and restaurant near Madison Square Garden. It’s decorated in wood and stone, giving it the lived-in aura of many other Irish pubs that speckle the city. The fare has Celtic tweaks, such as Irish smoked salmon and the rich black pudding (blood sausage), served with a robust mustard sauce. Other dishes include rice flour-dusted fried calamari and roasted asparagus and wild mushroom tartlet as starters, and for entrées, the two bacon spaghetti carbonara or the sautéed bronzino with rock shrimp. Unfortunately, the kitchen is as uneven as the Irish additions to the cuisine, making it a hit or miss affair.
