THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Tom's Home Cookin' Restaurant Review:
There's nearly always a line snaking out the door of this Southern shack steeped in soul food: tender, copper-skinned fried chicken, smoky collard greens, blackened catfish, creamy macaroni and cheese and meatloaf, all of which are heaped in Styrofoam boxes. The board changes daily, but one thing remains constant: the huge portions, which lead to leftovers. The nostalgic sweets --- house-made peach cobbler and banana pudding layered with vanilla wafers --- aren't skimpy either, but you should definitely save some space to indulge. There's no liquor license, but sweet tea flows like a river, and it's the ideal foil for the comfort food staples. Just remember to carry cash, the joint doesn't accept plastic. And take note that when the food runs out --- an inevitable occurrence --- the doors shut.
