| This Top Spice offers the same fare as its siblings, and like them features a Malaysian and a Thai chef to handle each of the cuisines. Open with roti canai, a Malaysian specialty rooted in southeast Indian pancakes (but this version has a curry chicken dipping sauce) or tofu mushroom coconut soup. Then hopscotch through these two exotic cuisines, going from perhaps rendang from Malaysia (beef flavored with a paste of ground onion, lemon grass and chili simmered in coconut curry gravy) to one of our favorite dishes, the Thai catfish basil (spicy deep-fried catfish filets with basil leaves and red curry sauce). Unusual sticky rice with mango is delectable and just sweet enough. While not spectacular, this wine list does offer a few choices appropriate to the dishes this nimble kitchen cooks. |
