THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Torafuku Restaurant Review:

Torafuku started out in Tokyo, Japan, so you can rest assured that your dining experience will be authentic here at the only Stateside branch. It's a soothing, sophisticated venue bathed in soft earth tones, with a sushi bar and private room. The large menu offers sushi, sashimi, tofu, yakitori and other grilled items, as well as hard-to-find specialties like mentaiko (spicy cod roe). The restaurant, particularly proud of its rice, prepares it in a 500-pound iron and earthenware kamado, a centuries-old type of steamer. Sashimi is very good here, ditto for deep-fried items. Steaks and grilled fish round out a refreshingly diverse and unconventional---at least by L.A. standards---menu. The omakase combination dinner is a very good value at $27 and includes salad, assorted sashimi, grilled fish, homemade tofu and other dishes. Desserts include grilled daifuku mochi and ice cream in flavors such as green tea and black sesame. Saké is available by the glass, bottle or $15 sampler offering tastes of three selections.
