THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Toro Sushi, Bar & Lounge Restaurant Review

: Toro is a big, brash eatery with a cocktail bar that appears every bit as important as its sushi bar. The fish is about the quality one expects from a typical neighborhood Japanese eatery, and the inventive rolls are probably the way to go here. Entrées include seared ahi with a spicy soy-Dijon sauce, short ribs served over caramelized onions, blackened salmon and steaks. A wide variety of Asian tapas --- ideal bar food --- seems to rule, with items like crab- and shrimp-filled jalapeño poppers, eel sauce-drizzled “monkey balls” (mushrooms stuffed with spicy tuna, avocado and cream cheese), and Diablo wontons, all deep-fried. Tempura cheesecake is a popular finale at this cavernous, clubby place, with a sexy amber-illuminated bar. Also located at 1520 N. Mountain Ave., Ontario, 909-983-8676.
