Toro Sushi, Bar & Lounge Restaurant Review: Toro is a big, brash eatery with a cocktail bar that appears every bit as important as its sushi bar. The fish is about the quality one expects from a typical neighborhood Japanese eatery, and the inventive rolls are probably the way to go here. Entrées include seared ahi with a spicy soy-Dijon sauce, short ribs served over caramelized onions, blackened salmon and steaks. A wide variety of Asian tapas --- ideal bar food --- seems to rule, with items like crab- and shrimp-filled jalapeño poppers, eel sauce-drizzled “monkey balls” (mushrooms stuffed with spicy tuna, avocado and cream cheese), and Diablo wontons, all deep-fried.
