Toulouse Café and Bar Restaurant Review:
About the restaurant: This Dallas import brings a true French bistro vibe to the River Oaks District, a blocks-wide shopping mecca of high-end boutiques and eateries. Comfortable and airy, the space showcases an open kitchen and a patio for people watching.
Food & Drinks: Lunch might begin with a bottle of 2014 Honig Sauvignon Blanc, although there are plenty of French wines on the list as well. Bread service features an artisan sourdough baguette wrapped in paper and served with butter. French dishes are tasty: velvety lobster bisque and escargots encased in little puff pastries are notable starters, while the croque madame, crowned with a fried egg, is a heartier hit. We also recommend the steak frites and the fragrant beef bourguignon. Three types of steamed mussels grace the menu, as do oysters on the half shell and grilled octopus. Finish with a cup of dark illy coffee and a light strawberry napoleon.
