THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Tracht's Restaurant Review:

Open, airy and quiet enough for adult conversation, Tracht’s at the Renaissance Long Beach Hotel is an upscale import to Ocean Boulevard, favored by business types and convention-goers. Under the direction of chef Suzanne Tracht of L.A.’s Jar, the contemporary-styled space, with oversize lampshades and comfy leather chairs and banquettes, looks and even smells inviting---a rarity in a hotel restaurant. There’s a touch of Vegas in the décor---the glass-enclosed wine room and the cascading water wall at the corner of the bar stand out. Tracht’s menu of modern chophouse fare emphasizes meats, seasonal dishes (the summer tomato salad) and seafood specials, like line-caught mahi mahi or Fanny Bay oysters. Jar’s signature pot roast makes an appearance, as do other sautéed meats such as coq au vin with applewood-smoked bacon. Try the Kansas City steak, like a New York cut but further back on the cow, topped by a choice of five sauces, from green peppercorn to béarnaise. Sides are first-rate and include crispy, hot french fries sprinkled with garlic and parsley, onion rings piled high and roasted asparagus. Cocktails are potent here and the wine list favors California boutique producers, among them Ridge and Groth. House-made desserts include traditional options such as chocolate pudding, ice cream sundaes and honey-pecan pie. Summertime, and in fine weather, diners migrate outdoors to the radiant-heated patio and fire pit. Small plates are served in the bar.
