This tiny, cozy bistro attracts regular patrons who like their menu full of old-school tradition and dependable dishes. Chef James Neel (formerly of The French Room and Al Biernat's) offers a New American menu that draws on French and Italian influences. We recommend the seafood dishes, such as the sautéed Texas Gulf crab cakes or the pan-roasted red snapper with lobster risotto. Chef Neel’s red wine-braised veal osso buco is a favorite. When in season, try the starter of grilled pears with buttered walnuts, apple smoked bacon and Gorgonzola. If it’s novelty you seek, your best bet is the nightly tasting menu, where the chef mixes it up and pairs four off-menu courses with wine. Desserts are homey, if ordinary, although the soufflés---your choice of Grand Marnier, raspberry, chocolate, roasted banana or coconut---will convince you that you're really dining on the Left Bank rather than in the Park Cities.
